This backroads route from Yosemite National Park to Death Valley goes through Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, by way of General Grant Grove, Giant Forest, and the General Sherman Tree.

Directions for each Topo

Start with the El Capitan topo, start in Yosemite Valley, head south on Wawona Road and exit the map at 63 on the south side of the map.

Continue with Wawona opo, enter the map at 63 on the north side, continue south to Wawona and exit the map at 57 on the east side of the map.

Continue with Mariposa Grove topo, enter the map, very briefly, at 57 on the west side, exit the map at 55 on the west side of the map.

Continue with Wawona topo again, enter the map at 55 on the east side and exit the map at 67-68 on the south side of the map.

Continue with Fishcamp topo, enter the map at 67-68 on the north side, continue past Fish Camp and exit the map at 67-68 on the south side of the map.

Continue with Ahwahnee topo, enter the map at 67-68 on the north side, continue past Yosemite Forks, through Oakhurst and and exit the map at 32-33 on the east side of the map.

Continue with Bass Lake topo, enter the map at 32-33 on the west side. Turn south before Bass Lake and exit the map at 72-73 on the south side of the map.

Continue with North Fork topo, enter the map at 72-73 on the north side, head south, then east and exit 21 on the east side of the map.

Continue with Cascadel Point topo, enter the map at 20-21 on the west side, very briefly, and exit at 19-20 on the west side of the map.

Continue with North Fork topo again, enter the map at 19-20 on the west side, head south across Kerckhoff Lake and exit at 76-77 on the south side of the map.

Continue with Millerton Lake East topo, enter the map at 76-77 on the north side and exit at 89 on the east side of the map.

Continue with Auberry topo, enter the map at 8-9 on the west side, continue south on Auberry Road. Turn east on 168 Road, continue south/south-east and exit the map at 86 on the south side.

Continue with Humphreys Station topo, enter the map at 86 on the north side, continue on 168 Road very briefly, turn east onto Burrough North Road and exit at 95 on the east side of the map.

Continue with Trimmer topo, enter the map at 94-95 west, turn south on Watts Valley Road. Turn east towards Maxson Road, stay to the west side of Pine Flat Reservoir and exit at 96 on the south side of the map.

Continue with Pine Flat Dam topo, enter the map at 96 on the north side, stay on Trimmer Springs Road along the north shore of Pine Flat Reservoir. Exit the map at 91 on the north side.

Continue with Trimmer topo again, enter the map at 91 on the south, very briefly, and exit the map at 90-91 on the south side.

Continue with Pine Flat Dam topo again, enter the map at 90-91 on the north side, continue south on Trimmer Springs Road towards Piedra and exit the map at 77-78 on the west side.

Continue with Piedra topo, enter the map at 77-78, turn south across Kings River. Continue southwest along Piedra Road and exit the map at 81-82 on the south side.

Continue with Wahtoke topo, enter the map at 81-82 on the north side, continue on Piedra Road. Turn east on 180 Road and exit the map at 66-67 on the east side.

Continue with Orange Cove North topo, enter the map at 66-67 on the west side and exit the map at 01-02 on the north side.

Continue with Tucker Mountain topo, enter the map at 68-69, very briefly, on the west side, and exit the map at 01-02 on the north side.

Continue with Luckett Mountain topo, enter the map at 01-02 on the south side, continue past Clingans Junction and exit the map at 70-71 on the east side.

Continue with Verplank Ridge topo, enter the map at 70-71 on the west side, very briefly, and exit the map at 13-14 on the south side.

Continue with Miramonte topo, enter the map at 13-14 on the north side and continue eastward and exit the map at 65-66 on the east side.

Continue with General Grant Grove topo, enter the map at 65-66 on the west side and continue eastward across Kings Canyon National Park and exit the map at 63 on the east side.

Continue with Muir Grove topo, enter the map at 63 on the west side and continue south and east along the General Highway. Go past Stony Creek Village and exit the map at 38-39 on the south side.

Continue with Giant Forest topo, enter the map at 38-39 on the north side and continue south then east and exit the map at 52-53 on the east side.

Continue with Lodgepole topo, enter the map, very briefly, at 52-53 on the west side and exit the map at 51 on the west side.

Continue with Giant Forest topo again, enter the map at 51 on the east side and continue south then south past Pinewood. Stay right at the 'Y' and start climbing towards Wall Spring. Continue climbing to the next 'Y'. Stay left and south on the General's Highway across Deer Ridge towards Big Fern Spring. Keep switchbacking down to Hospital Rock and exit the map at 37-38 on the south side.

Continue with Case Mountain topo, enter the map, at 37-38 on the north side. Stay on 198 Road along the Kaweah River past Hammond and exit the map at 36-37 on the west side.

Continue with Kaweah topo, enter the map, at 36-37 on the east side. Stay on 198 Road along the Kaweah River past Three Rivers and around Lake Kaweah. Exit the map at 30-31 on the west side.

Continue with Woodlake topo, enter the map, at 30-31 on the east side. Stay south on 198 Road and exit the map at 18 on the south side.

Continue with Rocky Hill topo, enter the map, at 18 on the north side. Stay south on 198 Road towards Yokohl. Take Yokohl Road south-southeast along the Yokohl River towards Gill Ranch and exit the map at 5-6 on the east side.

Continue with Chickencoop Canyon topo, enter the map, at 5-6 on the west side, continue along Yokohl Creek and exit the map at 29 on the south side.

Continue with Frazier Valley topo, enter the map, at 29 on the north side, very briefly, and exit the map at 11-12 on the east side.

Continue with Springville topo, enter the map, at 11-12 on the west side, continue along Yokohl Valley Road towards Milo. South on Balch Park Road to Springville, then east on 190 Road. Exit the map at 01-02 on the east side.

Continue with Camp Wishon topo, enter the map, at 01-02 on the west side, continue east along the Tule River and exit the map at 00-01 on the east side.

Continue with Camp Nelson topo, enter the map, at 01-02 on the west side, continue east then south and exit the map at 60 on the south side.

Continue with Sentinel Peak topo, enter the map, at 60 on the north side, continue south past Ponderosa. Stay south and exit the map at 57-58 on the south side.

Continue with Johnsondale topo, enter the map, at 57-58 on the north side, continue southwest through Long Meadow Grove. Turn east along Double Bunk Creek towards Johnsondale and exit the map at 82 on the east side.

Continue with Fairview topo, enter the map, at 82 on the west side, continue east across the Kern River. Stay east and exit the map at 83-84 on the east side.

Continue with Sirretta Peak topo, enter the map, at 83-84 on the west side, very briefly, and exit the map at 77 on the north side.

Continue with Bonita Meadows topo, enter the map, at 77 on the south side, continue north and east through Paloma Meadows and then north along Beach Ridge. Exit the map at 93-94 on the east side.

Continue with Crag Peak topo, enter the map, at 93-94 on the west side, continue south around Fish Creek Campground. The south and east towards Kennedy Meadows and exit the map at 86-87 on the east side.

Continue with Long Canyon topo, enter the map, at 86-87 on the west side, very briefly, and exit the map at 00-01 on the south side.
